Twitter is an internet relay chat web site in which users can post "mini blogs" in under 140 characters. What this creates is a faster and more efficient connection to users who they wish to subscribe to their blog or "follow" other users and see what they have to say. This can be used in a business sense in which companies can create Twitter accounts and have users follow and learn more about their products and even run promotions. In this fast paced world we live in currently, Twitter is accessible from mobile devices too including Ipods and Cellular devices which make this information even more readily available to the user.
I feel that the only draw back to Twitter though is the limitation of the information that can be posted in one "tweet" or blog post on the site. To give the follower more information, you would have to post a link to the website you are discussing and give further details in regards to this. Another drawback from Twitter would the instance in which information can be drowned with the millions of users already on Twitter. With the new technology of Twitter, there are already instances of spam tweets which plague the log of tweets a person follows.
All in all, I do feel that Twitter is a strength to business with the aspect getting a name out there and promotion wise. I am very interested to see where my Twitter account takes me, and hopefully, make some decent networking decisions that will play in my favor in the future.
